Bluebell Dairy Farm – Best Ice Cream Ever

Yesterday I decided to take my kids on a fun day out to Bluebell Dairy Farm in Derby. We had been talking about it for weeks, and finally, the day arrived! My excitement knew no bounds as I have heard great things about the place and wanted to experience it firsthand with my kids.

As soon as we reached Bluebell Dairy Farm, we were greeted by the sweet aroma of freshly made ice cream that wafted through the air. My kids were beyond thrilled to explore the farm and were jumping up and down with joy.

The Wild West week was in full swing, and the activities for kids were endless. We were greeted with smiles from the farm team, and they handed us our activity sheets for the day.

My kids were most excited about the Wild West activities that the farm had to offer, cactus toss, shoot out, and tin can alley.

The cactus toss involved throwing small foam rings over wooden cactuses. The shoot out was a mini version of a western standoff, where the kids ran around with toy guns trying to hit targets. Tin can alley was much simpler, yet equally as exciting, a game with stacked tin cans where they’d try to knock them down with bean bags.

After we finished the activities, we went over to see the Highland cow. This was mine and the children’s first time seeing one, and we were in awe of how big and fluffy it was. The cow was very friendly and came up to us looking for some attention. It was an unforgettable experience as I am totally obsessed with highland cows and have a few ornaments around the home.

After admiring the cow for a while, we made our way along the farm where we were greeted by some more highland cows, sheep, goats, calf’s and some alpacas.

Next, we went to the park, where the kids had a chance to release some of their energy. They had an absolute blast and didn’t want to leave.

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to the ice cream parlour, which was near the exit and I have to admit, I was looking forward to this as much as the kids! There were so many different flavours to choose from, it was hard to decide. But eventually, we settled on a delicious scoop of strawberry, chocolate, lemon curd, honeycomb and vanilla – all served in a crispy waffle cone.

The Bluebell Dairy Ice Cream Farm was definitely a wonderful experience for the whole family, and I will definitely be taking them back again soon. It was amazing to see how much joy the simple things in life can bring to children, and it reminded me that it’s the little moments that count the most.

This is such a cute outing idea! Any trip that involves ice cream or cute animals is always a big hit with everyone, especially kids. Also, the Highland calf is so cute!
